"Direct Full Array is the backlight type used in LED TVs. Traditional LCD TVs have two types of backlight distribution: one is direct type backlighting and the other is edge lighting. Direct full array backlighting means that LEDs are placed everywhere behind the LCD panel of the TV. In contrast, edge-backlit TVs have LEDs only along the sides of the screen (usually two opposite sides) to illuminate the entire screen. Direct Full Array backlighting in an LED TV can be transmitted evenly across the entire screen. The advantage is that brightness is uniform and light leakage is significantly reduced."
