Who are we?

Both founders are graduates from the University of Miskolc. We first started a business during our time at university when we had a company involved in website development.

We began working to launch Szallas.hu and Szallasguru.hu in 2007. As founders of the company, along with our colleagues, we have received various different awards and turned Szallas.hu into Hungary's market leader by 2010.

In 2014 Szallas.hu became the fastest growing technology company in the region (Deloitte Fast 50 - 1st place). The company was taken over by new owners in two stages, in 2011 and again at the end of 2015. Szallas.hu has been a successful business ever since. 😊

Pepita.com & Pepita.hu was launched as a marketplace/online store where our customers can buy almost everything in one place in the summer of 2017. Over 1,000 partners have already registered on our website and our product range includes more than 2,896,900 items; this number is increasing every day.

Our online store offers a wide selection of products from the most popular brands: gardening and DIY materials, tools, drugstore products, laptops, technical goods and articles of clothing, as well as toys and games, books, office supplies and sports equipment. In addition, we have a wide range of mother and baby products.

Budapest-based venture capital investor Portfolion acquired a stake in the company at the beginning of 2020, strengthening our financial security and ensuring the possibility of continued development. Our rapid growth has been recognised with numerous awards in recent years, making us very proud.

In 2023 we were included in the Forbes Digital Heroes league for our outstanding (56%) revenue growth.

We were ranked 16th in the region (2nd among Hungarian companies) in the Deloitte Fast 50 - 2023 "Companies to Watch" - Emerging New Businesses category.

In the 2022 gkid eTOPLISTA ranking, we finished in 12th place among the largest e-commerce retailers. In the ranking of Hungarian retailers with a turnover exceeding 5 billion HUF, we achieved 5th place. With our 2023 results, we further improved our positions: we ranked 6th among the largest e-commerce retailers, and in the ranking of Hungarian retailers with a turnover over 5 billion HUF, we improved by two places, climbing to the third position on the podium.

In 2024, we won the HungarEcomm Stars award in the Big Star category, where Hungarian companies with a revenue of over 10 billion HUF were ranked. The HungarEcomm Stars award highlights outstanding local companies. The competition selected companies with an annual online revenue exceeding one billion HUF and that meet the requirements of economic stability, digital competence, and effective market strategy. Thanks to the exceptional performance of Pepita Group Zrt., the company is ranked among the top one-thousandth of Hungarian e-commerce businesses in 2024.

Moreover, Groww Digital has also recognised our performance, naming our company as one of the 50 outstanding online exporters in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.

Our goal is to become the leading e-commerce player in the region.
