Performed better than expected :)
There were patches of snow/ice/rocky scree/rock (Dolomites ~3200m), so I took a chance and didn't bother taking them on and off every 5 meters, but the rocks didn't seem to damage them. It's worth threading the velcro strap through the entire silicone part, not just through the hole designed for it, because my friend's tore off pretty quickly (a few km). I think it's worth the price, I'm glad I bought it.
