A vole trapping accessory kit is available separately, which includes a tunnel locating probe and a 6 cm hole cutter.
Tunnel-work locating a line between two mounds of earth and/or visible tunnel openings, as there is likely to be a connecting tunnel. Push the probe into the ground in many places, and when the probe suddenly slides into the ground very easily, you will find a tunnel. Ideally, the trap should be placed where the tunnel is straight and level. So make sure your location is ideal by probing in front of and behind it, like the connecting tunnel.
Using a 6 cm hole cutter, with a twist, cut a nice vertical hole in the tunnel, plus an additional 2 cm in the tunnel floor. Carefully lift the loose soil out of the tunnel or push it flat into the tunnel floor.
Insert the trap into the hole and gently pull the spring handle upwards. It will lock in this position. Make sure that the trap holes run in the same direction as the tunnel.
Scatter loose leaves or grass around the trap to block drafts and light. The trap is now ready for action . Check the trap the next day at the latest. Often it will only take a few hours .
